  • Pico Laser (Pico Toning / Pico Fractional)

PicoSure is a medical picosecond laser developed by Cynosure, Inc. in the United States.
Compared to conventional nanosecond lasers, its irradiation time is extremely short, at just one trillionth of a second (picoseconds), allowing it to finely break down pigment while minimizing thermal damage.

In addition, different irradiation methods, such as "picotoning," "pico spot," and "pico fractional," can be used depending on the purpose.

Recommended for people who

  • Those who want to improve blemishes, freckles, and dullness
  • Those who want to tone up and whiten their skin overall
  • Those who want to reduce enlarged pores and rough skin
  • Those who want treatment with as little downtime as possible

What is a Pico Laser (Picosure)?

A pico laser is a treatment that uses extremely short (picosecond) laser pulses to remove dark spots and dullness from the skin.
Compared to conventional lasers, it is characterized by its low stress on the skin and high therapeutic effectiveness. Because it is less painful than older lasers, treatment can be performed without anesthesia.

A treatment that removes melanin pigment using shock waves while minimizing heat damage

Pico lasers use shock waves instead of heat to break down melanin pigments, effectively removing dark spots and freckles. The picosecond (one billionth of a second) irradiation time allows for the destruction of melanin while minimizing the damage caused by heat to the skin.

Pinpointed treatment that delivers results only to the treatment area

The pico laser acts only on the specific treatment area, providing pinpoint results without damaging the surrounding skin. Minimizing the thermal impact on the surrounding skin ensures thorough treatment.

Results with fewer treatments

Compared to conventional laser treatments, pico lasers produce visible results with fewer treatments, allowing treatment to be completed in a shorter period of time. Because they provide more pinpoint coverage than conventional lasers, the number of treatments required can sometimes be reduced by as much as half.

Fast Treatment Time

Pico lasers have a short irradiation time, with each treatment taking just a few minutes. The short irradiation time and pinpointed treatment allow for quick treatment. This treatment is ideal for busy individuals and those seeking rapid healing.

Treatment with reduced pain and short downtime

Pico lasers are less painful and have minimal downtime after treatment, minimizing the impact on daily life. Because they use a special irradiation method that does not spread heat from the irradiated area, they are characterized by minimal pain and short downtime.

Irradiation method tailored to symptoms

  • Pico Toning
  • Pico Fractional
  • Pico Double
  • Pico Spot
  • Pico Toning

Pico Toning uses a uniform laser beam to improve widespread dark spots and dullness. By evenly reducing melanin in the skin, it achieves overall skin tone improvement. It is particularly effective in improving dullness and melasma.

    [Recommended Conditions]
    ・Light dark spots
    ・Freckles
    ・Melasma
    ・Dustness
    ・Pigmentation
*Of these, melasma is difficult to treat with other treatments. If you are suffering from melasma, we recommend pico toning treatment.

    [Number of Treatments]
Treatments are generally repeated. A total of 10 or more treatments are recommended, approximately once every 2-4 weeks. The number of treatments varies depending on the condition of the affected area, so please consult your doctor for details.

  • Pico Fractional

Pico Fractional is a treatment aimed at skin rejuvenation. By irradiating tiny laser beams in a dot pattern, it creates microscopic damage deep within the skin, promoting natural regeneration.

This method stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, potentially reducing wrinkles and sagging skin and improving skin quality. It's also effective in tightening pores and improving acne scars, resulting in overall skin rejuvenation.

    [Recommended Treatments]
    ・Improvement of acne scars
    ・Enlarged pores
    ・Fine wrinkles
    ・Improved skin texture and firmness
Since the treatment process does not damage the skin's surface, it's also recommended for those seeking minimal downtime.
    [Number of Treatments]
This treatment also requires repeated treatments, with a recommended number of treatments once a month for 5-10 sessions.

  • Pico Double

Pico Double is a combination treatment that combines Pico Toning and Pico Fractional.
After improving uneven skin tone, dark spots, and dullness, it targets the dermis and stimulates collagen production, leading to a more even, smoother skin texture.
By combining two types of pico irradiation, you can expect superior results not achieved with either treatment alone.
    [Recommended for]
    - Overall dullness and uneven skin tone
    - Dark spots, freckles, and melasma
    - Irregularities and pores caused by acne scars
    [Number of Treatments]
Best results can be expected with 3-5 treatments every 2-4 weeks.

  • Pico Spot

Pico Spot is a treatment that focuses a laser on specific areas, such as dark spots, freckles, and tattoos.
Because it directly targets specific pigments, it can effectively remove dark spots with fewer sessions.

It is particularly effective for dark spots, freckles, and pigmentation that is difficult to treat with other treatments. Pico Spot effectively treats only the targeted area without putting stress on the entire skin, allowing for highly precise treatment.
    [Recommended Conditions]
・Senile lentigo (also known as dark spots)
    ・Freckles (ephelides)
    ・ADM (acquired dermal melanocytosis)
    ・Selective dark pigmentation
    [Number of Treatments]
Pico Spot is a treatment that often can significantly improve troublesome dark spots with a single session.

Depending on the type and intensity of the dark spots, two to three sessions spaced several months apart can lead to more even, brighter skin.

Case

Downtime and side effects

  • Pico Toning

Pico Toning has almost no downtime and few side effects such as redness. Even if downtime or side effects do occur, they usually subside within 1-2 days.

  • Pico Fractional

The downtime for Pico Fractional is relatively short, lasting from 5 days to 1 week. After the treatment, you may experience some redness and swelling, and some crusting may occur.

  • Pico Double

Mild redness may occur immediately after treatment, but this will subside within 2 to 5 days, and you will be able to apply makeup the next day.

  • Pico Spot

Pico Spot treatment has a relatively short downtime, but slight redness and swelling may persist for a few days after treatment. This effect is particularly noticeable in areas treated for longer periods than with other laser treatments. In rare cases, hyperpigmentation may occur in the treatment area, but this is temporary and will gradually resolve.
    [Recommended Conditions]
・Senile lentigo (also known as age spots)
    ・Freckles (ephelides)
    ・ADM (acquired dermal melanocytosis)
    ・Some dark hyperpigmentation
    [Number of Treatments]
Pico Spot treatment often significantly improves problematic age spots with a single treatment.
Depending on the type and intensity of the age spots, two to three treatments spaced several months apart can result in more even, brighter skin.

Precautions for pico laser treatment

  • Do not rub the treatment area to prevent pigmentation

After pico laser treatment, it is important to avoid rubbing the treatment area to prevent pigmentation. Because the skin is in a delicate state, friction can cause pigmentation.

When washing your face or wiping it with a towel, be gentle and avoid applying too much pressure. It is also important to use cosmetics carefully and choose products that are gentle on the skin. If a scab forms, wait for it to fall off naturally and do not force it off.

  • Moisturize your skin and take proper sun protection measures

After pico laser treatment, it's important to thoroughly moisturize your skin and protect it from the sun. Post-treatment, your skin is prone to dryness and is more sensitive to external stimuli. Therefore, be sure to use moisturizing creams and lotions to keep your skin hydrated.

It's also essential to use sunscreen to avoid UV damage. Avoid strong sunlight, especially for several weeks after treatment, and take thorough sun protection measures by using physical UV protection such as a hat or parasol.

  • If you're concerned about side effects after treatment, consult a doctor immediately

If you're concerned about side effects after pico laser treatment, it's important to consult a doctor immediately. While redness and swelling may occasionally persist, these symptoms usually improve over time. However, if you experience any abnormalities or have concerns, please feel free to consult a doctor.

FAQ Frequently Asked Questions

How much downtime is there?
Pico lasers have significantly shorter downtime than conventional lasers.
You may experience slight redness or burning sensation after the treatment, but this will subside within a few hours to a day.
With pico spot treatment, a thin scab will typically form at the treated area, which will peel off naturally within 5 to 7 days.
Does the treatment hurt?
When the treatment is performed, you may feel a "snap" sensation, similar to being snapped by a rubber band, but the pain is relatively mild.
For those who are sensitive to pain, anesthetic cream can be used, so you can receive the treatment with peace of mind.
Can dark spots be removed in one treatment?
This depends on the type and intensity of the dark spots or freckles, but in some cases they may be lightened or removed in one treatment.

However, for melasma, dullness, or overall whitening, we recommend continuing with 3-5 treatments every 2-4 weeks.
How long does a treatment take?
The irradiation time of the pico laser is short, with each treatment taking approximately 10 to 15 minutes. The short irradiation time allows for pinpoint treatment, making it possible to complete the treatment in a short time.
Can I wear makeup immediately after treatment?
For Pico Toning and Pico Fractional treatments, you can wear makeup from the day of treatment.

We recommend refraining from wearing makeup on the areas that underwent Pico Spot irradiation while scabs form to avoid irritation.
Is there anything I should be careful of after the treatment?
After the treatment, your skin will be temporarily in a delicate state.

Be sure to take measures against UV rays and moisturize your skin, and be careful not to forcefully peel off or rub the scabs.
Can it be used in conjunction with other treatments?
Yes, it can.

By combining Pico Laser with iontophoresis, electroporation, cosmetic infusions, etc.,
it can promote skin regeneration and achieve even greater whitening and skin-beautifying effects.

Some treatments can be performed on the same day, while others are better performed with an interval between treatments, so please feel free to consult your doctor.
