Double Eyelid Suture Technique Procedure

The "double eyelid suture technique" is a procedure that creates a double eyelid line without cutting the eyelid. Using fine medical threads, the eyelid is secured at 2 to 3 points along the desired double eyelid line.

For individuals who naturally have double eyelids, a portion of the muscle that opens the eyes (the levator palpebrae muscle) attaches near the double eyelid line, causing the eyelid to fold naturally and form the double eyelid.

The suture technique replicates this natural mechanism using threads. Compared to the incision method, it causes less swelling and requires a shorter recovery time, making it a recommended option for those who want to create double eyelids without surgery.

Merits/Demerits of the Suture Method

Merits
  • Short procedure time (about 10 minutes for both eyes)
  • Minimal pain and swelling
  • Short downtime with no need for suture removal or follow-up visits
  • Enhances a natural eye appearance and improves eye definition
  • Can be reversed by removing the sutures
Demerits
  • In rare cases, the double eyelid may revert (due to the procedure, individual constitution, or habits)
  • Difficult to perform if the skin or fat is thick

Surgical Menu for Double Eyelid Embedding

2-Point Fixation

Achieve your ideal double eyelids affordably

2-point fixation involves creating double eyelids using the embedding method by securing sutures at two points on the inner side of the desired double eyelid line. It is recommended for those who want to undergo double eyelid surgery at a reasonable cost.

Advantages
  • Affordable way to achieve double eyelids
Disadvantages
  • May cause bumps on the eyelids
  • Removing sutures for correction is more difficult than for line fixation
  • Sutures may loosen, causing the double eyelid line to fade

4-Point Front Line Fixation

Boasts durability for distinct double eyelids

4-point front line fixation involves threading a single suture along the desired double eyelid line and securing it at four points. It is characterized by its higher resistance to suture loosening compared to 2-point fixation.

Advantages
  • Durable sutures
  • Creates distinct double eyelid lines
Disadvantages
  • May cause bumps on the eyelids

Single Back Line Fixation

Natural beauty with minimal swelling

Single back line fixation involves creating double eyelids using one suture on each side, securing it from the inner side to avoid visible knots on the eyelid surface.

Advantages
  • Minimal swelling allows immediate makeup application
  • Invisible knots ensure a smooth, high-quality finish
Disadvantages
  • Less durable than double back line fixation (durability is comparable to 4-point front line fixation)
  • May cause prolonged discomfort, irritation, or redness

¥220,000

Double Back Line Fixation

Highest durability for long-lasting double eyelids

Double back line fixation involves using two sutures on each side, securing them from the inner side to avoid visible knots, providing the highest durability among embedding methods.

Advantages
  • Maximum durability prevents lines from fading
  • Minimal swelling allows immediate makeup application
  • Invisible knots ensure a smooth, high-quality finish
Disadvantages
  • May cause prolonged discomfort, irritation, or redness

FAQ

Q

How long will double eyelids last?

A

The duration varies depending on the type of procedure and the condition of the eyelids. People with thicker eyelids tend to experience a higher likelihood of the double eyelid reverting, but there are cases where it lasts a lifetime. Since the condition of the eyelids changes with age, if you have concerns, please consult a clinic.

Q

How long does swelling subside after the procedure?

A

The extent of swelling varies from person to person, but it is common to experience swelling similar to that after crying for about 2–3 days. (In most cases, it can be concealed with glasses or makeup.) There are also procedures that cause less swelling, so please consult a clinic if this is a concern.

Q

How long is the downtime for double eyelid surgery?

A

For the suture method, significant swelling usually subsides within about a week. For the incision method, stitches are removed one week after the procedure, and major swelling improves in about one month. The final result for the incision method takes approximately six months after the surgery.

Q

I had surgery at another clinic. Can it be revised?

A

In most cases, revision is possible. However, it depends on your current condition, so an examination will be necessary.
